Synopsis of Red Beard

The newly graduated medical student Homoto (played by Yuzo Kayama), under the introduction of his father, came to the Koishikawa Clinic in a remote countryside for an internship. His teacher is a strange doctor called Redbeard (played by Toshiro Mifune). At first, Homoto, who yearned for Nagasaki, was extremely disgusted with this slum, and was angry with Red Beard, feeling that he had been deceived and had no use for him.
