Synopsis of A Time to Kill

The ten-year-old daughter of black worker Carl (Samuel L. Jackson) was ravaged by two white people. In those years when racial discrimination was prevalent, Carl did not believe that the law could help him and his daughter seek justice. So, he went right to the guys and shot them. After taking revenge, Karl went directly to the police station and surrendered. The young lawyer Jack (Matthew McConaughey) was assigned as Carl's defense lawyer. Because Carl did not believe that the law would be fair to black people, he and Jack did not reach an agreement. Sure enough, Karl received unfair treatment in court. Law student Ellen (played by Sandra Bullock) appeared at this time. She stood on Jack's side and decided to defend Carl's innocence. Although Jack received support, his life was under great threat: the local Ku Klux Klan used various methods to blackmail Jack, and even threatened to blow up his house! Carl saw the efforts of Jack and others, and he decided to unite with everyone and fight for justice.
