Synopsis of The Rookie

A shoulder injury forced Jim (Dennis Quaid) to give up his promising career in baseball and become a teacher. Neither a happy married life nor a peaceful teaching career extinguished Jim's inner passion and love for baseball, but in reality, he had no choice but to compromise. The school formed a baseball team, and Jim was the first candidate for the position of coach. During his contact and training with the players, Jim gradually discovered that some warm emotions in his heart were gradually recovering. In order to encourage the players to train, Jim made a bet with them. If the team could qualify for the national competition, he would return to the major leagues. Unexpectedly, the team members fulfilled their promise, and now it was Jim's turn. Jim faces not only the opposition and pressure from his family, but also his 30-year-old "advanced age".
