Synopsis of The Whore and the Whale

In Madrid, the female writer Bella (Aitana Sánchez-Gijón) heard the story of photographer Emilio (Leonardo Sbaraglia) from her lover Jodi. Emilio died in Spain in 1933 as an anti-fascist fighter. Bella, who suffers from breast cancer, leaves her husband and lover, and explores the past of Emilio and the prostitute Lola alone in her illness... Emilio meets Lola at a dance and takes her to the desolate Patagonia. plateau. Lola, who was abandoned by Emilio, was unable to change her situation. Only Mathilde, who had the same identity as her, gave her some comfort. One day, a whale stranded on the beach. People surrounded it, but there was nothing they could do... Bella was surprised to find in the hospital that the old woman in the same ward was the same Mathilde. Soon after, there was another whale. Stranded, Bella felt that her life and that of another woman were connected at this moment... The film won the 2005 Argentine Film Critics Association Award for Best Cinematography, Art Direction and many other awards.
