Synopsis of Wuthering Heights
The movie "Wuthering Heights" is adapted from Emily Bronte's novel of the same name. This version won the Best Cinematography (Black and White) Award at the 12th Academy Awards. Mr. Dean brought back a Gypsy boy named Heathcliff (played by Laurence Olivier) to Wuthering Heights. His daughter Casey (played by Merle Oberon) fell in love with him, but was unwilling to give up a wealthy life. Heathcliff left quietly after learning about it, and Cathy married his neighbor Edgar (played by David Niven). A few years later Heathcliff came back in style and bought Wuthering Heights. Edgar's sister Ibella fell in love with him, and he married Isabella but was indifferent to her. Cathy was also close to death due to excessive grief. Heathcliff was insane and spent 20 years mourning Cathy and looking forward to death. He treated everyone around him with extreme contempt and tortured him in every possible way, until Cathy's ghost summoned him to their favorite place in the wilderness on a snowy night in winter to reunite in death...
