Synopsis of The Last Picture Show

The story takes place in Texas in 1951, where the old cowboy Sam (played by Ben Johnson) runs a movie theater here and has become an indelible highlight in the memories of local young people. High school student Sony (Timothy Bottoms) and his friend Qiu An (Jeff Bridges) are frequent visitors to the cinema, and they are also very speculative friends with Sam. Sony has experienced several fruitless love affairs, and his soul was deeply shocked. He and Qiu An fell in love with the passionate girl Jesse (Cybill Shepherd) at the same time, but Jesse finally chose Sony. Qiu An felt very sad and chose to leave. The news of Sam's death dealt a huge blow to Sony. In Sam's cinema, Sony and Qiu An watched the last movie together, which was also the last movie shown in the cinema.
