Synopsis of Jarhead

In the early 1990s, war was about to break out in the Middle East, and the famous "Desert Storm" was brewing. The 20-year-old young man Anthony Swofford (Jake Gyllenhaal) was born in a military family. His grandfather, father, and uncle were heroes on all battlefields. Anthony has been influenced by it since he was a child and determined to become a glorious soldier who made great achievements on the battlefield. After countless brutal training, he was finally sent to the 2nd Battalion of the 7th Marine Expeditionary Brigade of the Marine Corps and officially joined the Middle East battlefield. Anthony was complacent, but found that the cruelty of war was far beyond his expectation. During this period, his girlfriend from his hometown was unfaithful and cheated on him. Fear, emptiness, and depression were always tormenting his nerves. The true meaning of the war made him fall into contemplation and contradiction... The film was adapted from the 2003 best-selling book by former U.S. Marine Anthony Swofford and won the 2005 San Diego Film Critics Association Special Award.
