Limelight

Synopsis of Limelight

Summer of 1914, a single apartment in London. Ballerina Serrela Ambrose (Claire Bloom) turned on the gas in her room and attempted suicide. Fortunately, her drunk neighbor Carl Ferro (played by Charles Chaplin) who had just returned home happened to save her. After Cerela regained consciousness, Carl Ferro learned that she had the idea of committing suicide because she was suffering from rheumatism and could no longer dance. And Carl Ferro was once a great comedian. He took good care of Cerela and used his funny comedy to dispel her suicidal thoughts. Six months later, Cerela successfully stood up again and played an important role in a ballet. But Cerrela fell in love with a composer, and Carl Ferro could only silently bless them and perform his tearful comedy alone. The theme song of this film was produced by Chaplin himself. With its beautiful and moving melody, it won the 45th Academy Award in 1973 for Best Original Score (Drama).
