Synopsis of Before and After
The story takes place in a quiet town in New England, USA. Caroline (Meryl Streep) and Ben (Liam Neeson) are a couple living there. They raised their son Jacob (Edward Furlong) together, and their life was peaceful and happy. Caroline is a doctor, so she enjoys a high reputation in the town and is trusted and loved by her neighbors. However, one day, a nightmare suddenly came to the family. Jacob was accused of murdering his girlfriend and lost news of it. The residents' respect for Caroline's family soon turned into doubt and hostility. Although a lot of evidence points to Jacob as the real murderer, Caroline and Ben still firmly believe that Jacob cannot commit murder.
