Synopsis of A Woman in Berlin

In 1945, World War II was coming to an end. Berlin, the heart of the Third Reich, had been reduced to rubble by the fierce Allied offensive. After a brief exchange of fire, thousands of Soviet soldiers poured into the decaying city. The German civilians hiding under the bunker walked out of the ground obediently under the threat of rifles, and the sins committed by men were passed on to women. Countless women were raped, but not a single Soviet officer stepped in to stop them. She (Nina Hoss) is one of these humiliated German women. Her husband is far away on the front line, and her life or death is uncertain. She is terrified and helpless and can only endure humiliation again and again. She committed herself to a Soviet officer just to survive in this harsh environment... This film is adapted from the diary work of the same name by a German female journalist.
