Oliver Twist

Oliver Twist

Synopsis of Oliver Twist

The film is adapted from the 1838 masterpiece "Oliver Twist" by British writer Dickens. Orphan Oliver (Barney Clark) was raised by the church. When he was 9 years old, he was sent to a children's factory to pick stuffing, and was later sold to a coffin shop as an apprentice. He was repeatedly bullied. Oliver escaped from the coffin shop, walked 70 miles to London, met the thief "Smartboy" (played by Harry Eden), and was included in the theft gang of the Jewish old man Fagin (played by Ben Kingsley). On his first trip as an apprentice, Oliver was falsely accused of stealing Mr. Brownlow's (Edward Hardwicke) silk pa, and was beaten to the ground. He was taken home for adoption by the kind-hearted Mr. Brownlow, but was captured by Fagin's colleague Bill (Jamie Foreman) while running errands for Mr. Brownlow. Bill forces Oliver to help him and his friend Toby (Mark Strong) burglarize Mr. Brownlow's house at night. Little Oliver refuses to obey and sees his life hanging in the balance...
