Synopsis of The Experiment

This film is based on the 1971 "Stanford Prison Experiment" in the United States and adapted from Mario Jordanou's novel "Black Box". Taxi driver Tarek Fader (played by Moritz Bleibtreu) saw an advertisement in the newspaper recruiting psychological experiment subjects and went to apply for the job. He was divided into 19 other male applicants of all walks of life and ages. Two groups, playing the role of twelve prisoners and eight prison guards respectively, conducted a two-week simulated prison experiment, and each received a remuneration of 4,000 German marks. On the eve of the experiment, Tarek returned to the newspaper where he worked two years ago and decided to write a report about what happened during the experiment and sell it. Tarek was prisoner No. 77 in the experiment. He relied on the prohibition of violence in the experiment to deliberately stir up trouble and create news. Prison guard Borus (Justus von Dohnanyi) is dissatisfied with Tarek's arrogance and gradually establishes his authority in sanctioning prisoners.
